Dave
I too enjoy reading the old Shop Notes, could you give me a complete date so that I might find one for myself

Thanks

Sounds like an old Brower, or one of the knock offs. They were made for a long time, since 1922, so it could be many decades, or only a few years. They only recently went OOP, being replaced by the "Top Hatch" model.

They were sold by many of the catalog concerns, like Montgomery Wards and Sears, too, and they became near ubiquitous during the 30's 50's.

You could contact Brower and give them the serial no. - they might be able to tell you when it was made. Although my experience with them is, probably not, as good records have not been kept.

Ive toyed around with several of them on the past, and heres one source of parts for your "cake pan incubator," should you need them:

Heres a nice vintage thermometer to accompany your old 'bator - and note the temperature markings:

That's a good question, one I DONT know the answer to. I've studied a lot of this old stuff and that bit was lost on me.

Something else I thought about was the temps quoted are air temps. These are invariably higher than actual, as any user of a water weasle will tell you.

the color difference...odd, don't dark colors retain heat and light reflect...who knows!?!?!

how cool to see the differences in the way we do things. i think Dave is right though, trying some techniques and learning is going to be neat! let us know if anything works out!

I am sure you have poked far more than fun in your life time

At the risk of getting off topic (GASP!), I can answer in the affirmative, although, I had better not since this is a family forum.

I've got a couple of small kerosene heated incubators, one of which has never been used, If you want to fool around with something primative.
And I say to H with Peace, lets crank up the Hostilities. We need the oil.
