1st coop and run project.

A gentleman that builds decks told me your post last longer if you pour footer s.i guess it lets the wood breath more. So that's what we did. The pullets are almost seven weeks now. The last couple weeks that they have been in the run they have almost doubled in size.

I think the footings are a better idea as well from a structural stand point since you have so much height with that lumber. Looks good!

WOW...great run! On a side note, every time we've used quickcrete on fence posts, they've rotted much faster than those that were just in the ground, so I think you're decision to use footers is wise.
 
Great setup. Looks like you made everything really convenient, which I'm finding is the secret for us to keeping the coop and run clean.

Where did you get the automatic door opener?

The run is12 x20, the coop is4x6. Thanks I'm not much of a carpenter, and if i can do it believe me any one can.lol

well it looks fantastic..is that regular playground sand ?how many chickens do you have... my husband is a contractor and wont let me go all out on a coop he wants it simple easy to take care of..
