I finally got my 1st egg on sat which was cool. I am just wondering how long does it normally take to get eggs more consistently. I still have not gotten a 2nd. I believe it was one of my red-sex links which are 14-16 weeks old. The odd thing is the only chickens I have seen in the area of the egg though where my 12 week old partridge rocks.

I've had some chickens who laid consistently right off the bat, and some that took up to a month before they were consistent. I don't know if it had anything to do with breed, weather, etc... because I didn't really know that those things could play a factor.

I got an egg from one of my buffs at 18 weeks. I had a couple more after that. Then nothing for a couple of weeks. They are 21 weeks old now and I am getting at least one brown egg (I have 8 brown layers) and one white egg every day (from one white egg layer). So there is still no real consistancy...except with two of the 9 chickens. Now that there is at least one or two eggs a day, I have stopped obsessing over it! I was beginning to worry about my girls!

I have one 19 week old EE that started laying on Friday. I know it's her because I've caught her at it. She layed Friday, Sunday and Tuesday (today). Seems like she's on an every other day schedule.
It's like Christmas!!! Those lovely mint green eggs:)

thanks guys, my family was getting confused especially because we have heard they should produce 4-6 eggs a week
