1st egg TODAY!!!! HOORAY!

We got our first egg today from our very first chickens ever! The boys were so excited. They are only 20 wks today! I guess they are early bloomers? What a holiday weekend surprise! The boys were ecstatic as they were the ones who found it on the floor. It was almost as big as my large eggs. Amazing. I thought they would be teeny at first. But the Hyline is bred for egg laying, so that may make a difference. They were so sweet with the boys. The let us hold them and sat on our laps. I am just so excited! We also let them range today for the first time. They were so much fun to watch. I am one happy chicken momma.

I remember waiting for our first egg... I was starting to think I might have to squeeze the first few out to get them started.

Here it is!!! The egg in the middle, in between two large store bought eggs. Isn't it HUGE for a pullet egg????? I don't know, since this is a first for me. I am so proud. And we held and petted them today. They are such sweet chickens for being started pullets. I am so happy with them.

Congrats! Cool that the kids got to find it. I can't wait til my girls decide to bless me with eggs and I can stop buying those nasty things from the store they pretend are eggs.
