1st Goose egg for 2010

I just have a pair right now. They were given away for free. I didnt know what they were until my mom showed up with them and my mouth dropped! I don't know of too many people who have them, and I have no idea where they came from and why the person before me had them. They are about 1 or 1.5 years old now. I plan to incubate any eggs I get from them, so I can get a flock of them.

When you put your Seb gander in with the pom girls... does that make the colored sebs the first try? or do you have to breed back, to get the color you want?

What a nice surprise from your Mom ! Hope you have good luck with them.

I am not sure of the results, but I think I will have to breed back to get some colored sebs. I also have a seb gander setup with some gray poms girls in another pen.

hollering back & fourth to each other day and night, that was several weeks ago and they still get loud every now and then. And I was surprised it was the ganders that were making such a fuss not the girls.

Yay! My Africans started laying Saturday!

Two eggs so far! Wheezie has decided to nest in my feed shed. She made a nest from all the hay scraps on the floor. I tried redirecting her to a nest box we built down by the pond, but she won't have anything to do with it. This morning she was frantically pacing at the feed shed door so I opened up and let her in. I checked an hour later and there was a lovely egg.

You have a white African? Color me all jealous!

I took a couple of quick pics of the white Africans...they didn't like the camera..

Where did you get your white africans from?

My geese are just starting to breed, gonna have to separate them probably this weekend. Only seen the embden gander so far, bugger's crossing with the production toulouse and buff pomer hens, well that won't be lasting long though.

Oh, and congratulations on all the eggs!

Keep me in mind if you decide to start selling any of those white African eggs. My husband just saw a pic of some buff Africans and I think he was smitten with them as well. I guess we need Africans in ALL the colors.
