This is my first hatch and you are all so friendly in here and i have a question. i have 33 eggs in incubator and they are at day 9 and some of them have never done anything should i take the duds out now or wait until day 14 or later. they are just clear eggs with yolk floating around. i also have one that looks like it has a blood ring is that mean it is dead? i have sixteen duds and 17 with chicks. maybe sixteen donot know one with bloodring. i am realy excited about these. my kids have loved it so far. Thanks for any advice.

Hi, if you have a bloodring, take it out and crack it open. I just took one out, and it stunk real bad. With the others, if you're not sure, just wait a few days.
I think at 9 days you should see more than a yolk. I had a clear one, I cracked it open and there was just a yolk. I am a beginner, too. I've noticed lately that I am comparing the eggs, they should all kinda look the same, I noticed that one of mine had half of the egg clear while others filled out the egg. It's probably not good, but I'll wait a few days and see. Hope this helps.

Yep, I agree with Seminole - take out eggs with bloodrings. You can give the ones that appear clear a little more time just to be sure, but if they are still clear on day 14, you should probably get rid of them - no sense setting yourself up for the possibility of an exploding stinker!!!! Yuk!!!

Sounds like you're doing a great job with your eggs. Good luck with your hatch. Keep us updated!!!

today is day 14 out of 33 eggs i have 15 with babies in them. It is so awsome. I saw my first i think leg. all the rest were moving. I can not wait. hope week goes by quick
Where do i get the chicken smilies?

Hi! Congratulations on getting your first artifically incubated eggs this far!!
If the non-developing aren't weeping/seeping/or doing something equally obnoxious, they probably won't hurt the rest of the hatch if you leave them in (but I'm overly cautious and would take the non-developers out and dispose of them).

Yeah, Ladybug!!! Sounds like your eggs are doing well!!! How exciting for you!!!

You asked about the smilies - when you are typing a message you will see the word "Smilies" off the right of the message box and next to it in blue the word "show". Just click on show and you can see the smilies. To insert one into your post, place your cursor where you want the smilie to go, then go over and click on the smilie. To insert mulitple smilies, hi the space bar and click on the smilie again, etc. You won't see the smilie in the message you are typing, but it will show up when you post. Give it a try and if you have more questions just ask!

Lori:)
