Yesterday my hatch began, 12 hatched and 12 still living, 2 eggs pipping.

I will set up my brooder box today.

I try to keep water in supply and will add new grower feed when I move them to the brooder on day 3. Will run the incubator for a couple more days.

Am I missing anything?

(A group of Chanteclers with a couple of strays (coloured eggs), i put down about 34 eggs, some beyond 7 days.)

I'm not sure, sorry no one has replied to this. How are the eggs?

Make sure to have food and water in the brooder when they move in, and that they know where it is.

Chicks can survive for 72 hours without nourishment, but best practice is to give it to the ASAP.

I have 13 that hatched, all of those survived.

I will move them to their brooder box this morning. the temperature at floor level nearest the heat lamp is under 100F, sq ft is near 12 so chicks can choose their preferred temperature.

I will grow out both males and females, will integrate with flock of 19 (one male) after week 4 and will move males to a bachelor cage as soon as I recognize them.

Assuming I get at least 5 pullets I will double my number of Chantecler females. I will harvest the males at Christmas (my first go at that). My current objective is 24 laying birds.

My plan is a single annual hatch each June to expand/maintain my laying flock size.
