1st time incubating temp drop :(

candle to check embryo growth

Should I candle them even in lockdown? This is day 19. I'm so new to this, I've got no clue :)

I just did a quick candling... to see an internal pip!

I think though that was for the other poster who asked about being unsure of her dates.

It is up to you, some are "hands on" and some are "hands off".. I am very much the former. I just HAVE to know.

Be fast... Close the bator in and out as quick as possible (I raised my humidity a bit higher in prep of candling so it didn't get below 65 on open/close) Don't candle everyone, just one or two.

I played chirping noises all morning to encourage them to hang on... :)

I'm sure they are fine. Our temps were all over the place for a few days about halfway through incubating because of crazy temperatures in my house (at least I think that's why). I had temps between 97* and 104* at various times that had to be adjusted back. And so far, 11/14 are hatched. I'm still waiting to see what the others do. I've read more than once that the temp inside the egg takes longer to change so it can withstand temp spikes and drops pretty well. Plus, a broody hen leaves her eggs to eat/drink/poop here and there throughout her sitting time which adjusts the temps. :)

yes, thank you

and good luck on your hatch

Just to be clear...... everyone is saying "lockdown". Is that the last 3 days? And if so what should I know about lockdown?
I know your probably all shaking your heads thinking "what an idiot" Hahaha.
Sorry for the stupid question but this is a major learning curve.
