1st time incubating temp drop :(

thanks for the info, this would have been a fail with out it.
fingers crossed now to see what happens.
if you have any other advise I'm open.....
I have forgotten to shut off the turner and still had them hatch, the problem is if you are using a styro the opening between turner rows could injure the chicks legs etc

What incubator are you using?

@sh83
 Whats happening with your hatch this morning?

Inquiring hatch buddies want to know!

Well, we started out with one pip around 6am. Came home around 4pm mid zip and as of 1am, no more progress with that one ;/ but we do have a 2nd pip with 8 to go! How is everything going there??

So my 1st egg to pip and start to zip died mid zip :( I feel terrible. The 2nd pip is still in there chirping away and the hole is A LITTLE bigger but no zipping. It's only been about 10 hrs from pip so I'm not worrying (ok, maybe a little!) and we have one more new pip. I'm crossing my fingers that these don't die too...I have no idea what happened.

My fingers are crossed for you and your little ones too!

As of this morning I am at 10...9 of my Blue Partridge Brahmas and the first of the Swedish Flower Hens just a couple of minutes ago.

I have movement in some of the remaining brahma eggs. Trying hard to resist pippin for them. Waiting until tonight's candle to see. (Yeah, I'm a hands on mama)

My newest dilemma is a fairly prolonged rain dump here in SW MO and I can't leave my dogs out. My brooder is currently on the floor under my desk (I had a fire a year ago so living in 160SF currently, everything is under something). This is the first time for chickens with my Shih Tzus and to say they are interested is to put it mildly.

One of the last litter of pups must have chewed the cord of the clip lamp I planned for the brooder so I need to go replace it today. I'm not happy to leave the babies even covered on the floor as all four Tzus very much want to know just *** those things are!

They have a desk lamp with a 100w bulb inside right now and a heating pad underneath.

Fun times...
