1week old chick - poo stuck at the bottom and can't get it clean

Use a gentle damp wash rag and carefully rub the area to try and break off the poo, but be careful not to hurt the chick.

Thanks! I was careful but it did some damage when I rubbed with cotton swab. No sign of bleeding but it looks like thin layer of skin on the vent is peeling. Should I just leave it to heal? or should I apply plant based ointment? It looks like the chick pecked some feathers out and exposing skin around rear end.

hi again, 24 hours past and had three small poo so far and i had to wash each poo because it was not dropping on the floor and stuck at the bottom. poo was grainy or sandy rather than runny or sticky paste.
Chip has just passed away. I had heat lamp, food and water. Perhaps separating from the mother was bad and should had let nature to take care of... who knows.
Thought to post the photo of the final condition of the rear end so that it can be example to others who has same issue.
Thank you for the advice.

Sorry for your loss!

Thanks for the explanation about the infected area aart! So what does cause pasty butt? I had this issue with the last 10 hens I bought from a hatchery. We were able to clean the areas and never lost a chick.
