So we have 2 1yo miniture silver ducks male and female from 1 day old they are over a year old now and sadly spoilt.. live indoors and out doors everyday in a run with ponds and shelter etc they live rest of the time in with us they have a huge run open so they see us with 2 ponds in it and free reign of the entire kitchen when were in there or they will sit with us on knees watching tv etc .. they always love being round us but recently.. quinton.. the boy.. has become evil .. i look aftler them but they are my 13yo sons he does the playing and putting to bed etc i do everything else.. but of late hes awful bites me chases me and he nips quite painfully.. obv i say no and gently push him away but he just charges me again even when giving them their fav.. peas!! She is fine and iv not noticed any season or mating more than normal .. she stopped laying eggs 5 months ago but they are the epitomy of health just spoilt.. they eat anything but duck food.. they refuse the pellets and tried so many!! They like crab prawns mealworrms peas and salad etc the odd egg grit obv and millet plus seads and grapes odd kiwi fruit and occasionally cottage cheese cookes plain rice .. dont like duck food or sweet corn! But fav is muscles and bits of asperagus after peas . I also out a bit if mother vinigar in one of the pools 3 spolges to help keep mites etc at bay . . But any suggstions re behaviour .. she has her own enclosed boxes for bed with soft bedding they don't like straw! But like hay and wildflowrs in their water i sound horrendous dont i .. hes just spoilt isent he? So anyone know why he may be so aggressive at the min i cant decide if its protection for her as it is random she can be elsewhere... And does the lack of eggs cause her a issue or will she start again when shes ready.. sorry ao long xxx

Their diet isn't so good and could be a reason why she isn't laying. They need a good duck feed for one and if you stopped with all the other food your feeding they would eventually start eating. If they are healthy they aren't going to starve themselves.
The aggression is normal his hormones are getting the best of him, I for one don't tolerate my drakes nipping or biting they get the drake treatment which is they get held down on their bellies and are made to stay there until they stop fighting to get up facing away from me once they are allowed up they can waddle off or if they come back they get the treatment again. I also will toss my drake into the pool and that usually gets his mind off of biting me. But you have to be consistent you can't let him get by biting one time and not another. I'm sure others have their way of working on this but this has worked for me. And my Muscovy drake can sure be persistent :hmm
