Hello,
I have a 2-3 week old chick who stopped standing yesterday. Yesterday afternoon she was fine and acting just like the others (I have 11 more chicks from the same place) and last night she was getting walked on by the other chicks. I have separated her from the rest but all day today she has not walked either. I noticed she did move towards her food more and she had ate today. Does anyone have any ideas on why she just stopped walking and standing all of a sudden? None of the others seem to be affected.

Is she weak or lethargic? Can you see anything wrong with the leg, such as swelling, or any marks or redness? Will the chick hold the leg up if you stand it up? It could be an injury, a slipped tendon, but also could be a leg bone deformity. Can you try making it a chick chair to get her up and in front of food and water? Here is a link about chick chairs:

Thank you for your reply! She does not seem lethargic, she was chirping last night and this morning. She looks smaller than the rest of the chicks. If we stand her up she falls back down after a step or two. She was absolutely fine yesterday afternoon and then last night she was getting walked on by the others. I will look into the chair! Great idea!

Try to get her eating and drinking. Try mixing some chick feed with water and hold it up to her or feed it to her. Some Poultry Cell or chick vitamins that have riboflavin listed as an ingredient may be helpful to her legs.

Thank you! I saw that at Tractor Supply the other day so I will get it tomorrow! I have Save a Chick electrolytes if that would help in the mean time.

Yes, SaveAChick is fine in the water. The Poultry Cell would be good later because you can feed her a couple of drops to give her a quick boost, and then give her water. It has vitamins including b2 riboflavin, minerals, electrolytes, and amino acids.

Thank you so much! This is my first time raising chickens so it's all so new to me. I have bought a few books so far and just found this site tonight. I really appreciate your help!

You’re welcome. B2 riboflavin is a good vitamin for leg health. Poultry NutriDrench does not have riboflavin, so the Poultry Cell is better when you canngetbit. In the meantime, the SaveAChick has riboflavin.
