My 30 2.5 week old Cornish X have outgrown their brooder and I put them in the 8 x 4 x 3 tractor during the day and wheeled it into the heated garage at night. Too soon? We built the tractor gift-wrapped, completely wrapped in wire, because we have quite a predator problem in the area. The grass underneath is dry, but their feet never really hit solid ground. They have their wing and tail feathers, but still a lot of fuzz. Yesterday it was 79 degrees, but today it's 60 and raining. I have the top and half of the sides double tarped and they are walking around, eating and drinking. Some are sleeping in groups in the corners. It is dry inside the tractor. Do I pull them inside while it's raining, because of the lack of feathers? Or is 60 degrees warm enough?

They should be just fine. I put my 3 week olds outside and a lot of them didn't even have the fluff anymore, and they are doing great! We have lower temps than you right now with our lows getting down into the low to mid 30's. They are all happy and healthy!!

I have all mine in a tractor @ 3 weeks. I have a hutch on one end with a large overhang for sun/rain shelter. I also have a heat lamp in the hutch and an indoor/out wireless thermometer i use to monitor temps. Operating the heat lamp as needed. We have gotten in the 40's since i put them in, no issues.
The tractor I made as convertible. I place some parts into the hutch which converts it to a brooder. At 2 1/2 to 3 weeks the parts come out they and get the run of the tractor. I do not have to move them after they are in the tractor. Yes, they do sleep in groups. They will crowd under the heat lamp too when they get cold.
