Hello all!! My name is Samantha and my family and I have had chickens for almost 3 years. Before we had chickens we raised a flock of ducks until they were attacked while on vacation
Currently we have 6 laying hens, 2 full grown bantam Roos, 3 pullets and a young Roo, and 8 chicks about 3 weeks old. We are also about to hatch our first set of eggs in the incubator.
Our breeds range from Buff Orphingtons-Easter Eggers. Our pullets are Easter Egger/Oliver Egger mixes and our 8 chicks are Bresses. We are hoping to hatch out Cream Crested Legbars and Oliver Eggers this weekend!!
Our family loves to watch and interact with our chickens. It gives our kids responsibility when helping with the chicken chores. We live in just about 2.5 acres and our chickens love to free range. We also have two dogs, one is a black lab so we are careful with her around the birds. Our kids are 7 and 11 and need the outdoor activities so having chickens is nice and helpful. I have a great husband who helps coop up the chickens at night since I work 2nds in a hospital. It’s very rewarding to be able to help people by offering our eggs.
Lastly, I was told about this page through a Facebook group I am in for chickens
