I smelled her eye yesterday and I didn't notice a smell at all. I didn't even think to smell it earlier today when the stuff came out of it. I guess I was a bit surprised! She doesn't have any kind of nasal discharge. She peeped a little bit tonight, which she hadn't done earlier in the day or last night. This is all so new to me. We've had chickens for a year and a half and have not had any major issues. This is really worrying me, though. I've heard horror stories about people losing their entire flock to a disease. That's my worst fear with this stuff...
Is there any way to be sure that I'm using the right stuff? Or that I don't get the Tylan injectable and not need it? I'll try to take a picture of the little one (I guess if she makes it, that's her new name!) in the morning and let you know what's up. As for the others, the bigger bantam in the picture is about the same. Her eye was open almost all day today but then this evening it was shut. When I grabbed her she opened it up, though! Also, one of my Polish is sneezing and one of the buff Orps is sneezing every once in a while. Should I continue with electrolytes and VetRX in their water? I'm not sure what else to do about them. I really don't want to over-medicate the ones that aren't sick but still want to protect from getting anything if I can. Those are just the ones in the tractor. I've got 16 grown-ups that are nearby but they don't have face-to-face contact at this point with the little guys. Should I do something for them as a preventative measure? How in the world am I supposed to sleep tonight? Or work tomorrow for that matter!
Oops, I forgot to ask. They Tylan injectable... is that the one at TSC that says "Tylan 50, 100 mL, Elanco Cattle Treatment" or is there one that says it is for poultry? Also, any thoughts on using Terramycin eye ointment for the little one?
