2 Cayuga Girls & 1 Cayuga Drake

Lots of impacted gravel but not sure why she would be consuming so much other than they think there’s an underlying issue but no idea as to what it could be. It’s been going on for at least 10 days based on the blockage they saw on the X-ray.

Will run test on poop to see if it will shed light on things.

The blockage is huge so they’re going to administer fluids & then have me administer more every three hours. They are hoping it pushes gravel out but it will take a miracle.

She is the smallest of our three ducks and the vet said she thinks there is an underlying issue but do to the blockage they can’t see much.

If things haven’t progressed then I bring her back @ 8:30 tomorrow morning and they’ll try to manually get it out. It is unlikely she’ll survive sedation.

Prayers would sure be appreciated!!!

Oops...GRIT not gravel.[/QUOTE

From the other duck group:
Yes, try olive oil. Where you would dip once or twice to relieve a bound crop, you will dip four or five times and do it kind of regular. You will also want to get some starter crumbles and put her on that for feed. Do not worry so much about protein right now because if there is a lot of gravel she is not absorbing food well. You will want to also dip for water to make drink more and use warm epsom salt baths to get things warmed up, hydrated, and moving inside.

The gravel will only really cause harm if she doesnt get enough nutrition. Keep her going long enough and she will passit
