Sorry this happened to you. If you haven't already, contact Meyer ASAP to inform them what happened. They are a good hatchery.

I would suggest you try finding a hatchery closer to where you live. Meyer is in Ohio and it's a long trip to TX. I only order from Meyer because they are 2 hours away and I've had good experiences with them. Sometimes chicks have issues that can't be seen. All you can do is try to do what you can for them.Thank you for saying so, I appreciate it. And yes, I agree. They should send them for free, but honestly, I am afraid to order from them again!
That’s so painful when the babies die. We started with 15 in the spring and lost two within 48 hours. The rest thrived.Yesterday, we received 6 baby chicks from Meyer hatchery. Yesterday afternoon I noticed one of the chicks acting very lethargic. I made sure she was getting water and hand fed her some growgel and yolk. She resisted everything. She wasn’t able to stand up on her own. Then, she started cheeping loudly like she was unhappy. Not long after, she threw her head back and died. My son was so heartbroken as it was his favorite!
Today, the same thing started happening with another chick. So I added nutridrench to their water and made sure she was in a warm spot. She just passed away in the exact same way. The inability to walk, then cheeping loudly, then death.
PLEASE HELP! What is going on with my chicks?
That is so sad and painful. It’s not totally uncommon to lose a couple of babies within 48 hours. But four of six? Wow. Let’s us know what happens. We use a heat lamp in a metal shade. Yes! I contacted Meyer as soon as the first one passed. Then again after #3, and then again after #4. They did not offer advice, and they did not even seem to care to know what the symptoms were (seems like they would want to mitigate the issue with any other chicks?). They offered me store credit for the 4 lost chicks.I would suggest you try finding a hatchery closer to where you live. Meyer is in Ohio and it's a long trip to TX. You are probably right about that. I am not well-versed on which hatcheries are where. Do you know what hatchery would be closer?
It outgasses. Not good for humans but small creatures react faster.I am using a ceramic heat emitter bulb. But what does the Teflon do?
