2 chicks gone, 3 stray cats*Updated-Happy ending*

I have 2 dogs. They are little dogs and not allowed out without supervision. The chi climbs fences. The puppy runs screaming when she sees a cat so she lets us know they are there, but isn't a deterent.
I live in a suburban neighborhood, and have a fenced in yard, I believe a cat would be perfectly fine. My cat lived to be 18 before she passed away. I never said anything about not taking proper care of my cat. The last thing I want is more cats/kittens/ or a bunch of strays attracted by a cat in heat. I simply want everyone elses cats gone and away from my yard. My above mentioned cat was spayed and never left my yard, and chased the occasional stray out. It is everyone elses unaltered cats roaming where they please. Since I no longer have a cat though, there are at least half a dozen who I regularly chase out of the yard. They drive me nuts, and I am trying to think of an alternative to trapping and dispatching them because I am worried that will just create an opening for new cats to move in.

Ms.Frizzle :

Manbe you should get geese! Big, noisy aggressive geese!

Don't tell my fiance. He keeps pointing out the geese saying we should get a few everytime we go to the feed store. I remember being chased by them at my mom's friends farm when I was little and am afraid they would eat my kids. Can they live with chickens and ducks? Please tell me no....

Oh I wasn't referring to you at all when I said spay and neuter, sorry about that......I saw the other post with 66 cats/kittens and was floored, that's just Wrong........... I just don't know if a cat will keep others away, mine are all indoors but I bet if they went out the't run from a tough stray cat

That many cats and kittens is frightening

Don't worry, distemper will kill them every three years or so when the population gets so high. Its what happened to us when we used to have cows & mice & cats.

That's the problem and distemper is a HORRIBLE death........so SAD

I worm all the cats, vaccinate them for Rabies and distemper and several other cat diseases. The vaccine I buy comes covering 5 different things cats catch. All the males are neutered. I do that myself. So when I give a kitten away to a good home it has had its first shots been wormed and if is old enough before I send it will be neutered if it is male. I have 10 geese already and we love them so much. They are african geese. I buy cat food but also make it. My husband is butcher and I grind meat scraps liver and kidneys and add cooked rice and oatmeal to it and freeze it in 2 lb loaves in freezer. I sell goose eggs for hatching for 1.00 each plus shipping if anyone is interested in african geese. So far every goose egg set has had baby.
We have 7 toe cats too. We have 7 kittens that have 7 toes. "FREE to GOOD HOME" The cats go out to hunt so doesn't seem like that many except at night when they are used to being fed everyone is at door waiting on you to do chores.

I seem to have steered the post in another direction which shouldn't be done....Im not exactly sure what your point is, you have 36 cats and 30 kittens ! It's fine and dandy you neuter the boys (so you have anesthesia??) So apparently there are still males around....Im not gonna get going on this subject, just volunteer in a shelter that euthanizes cats and kittens because there are SOOO many out there and maybe then you will spay your girls and put an end to Your contribution...and also not sure what the point is about the xtra toes, I have 6 polydactyl cats myself.....and???? Anyway I hope the poster finds a solution to her kitty chasing chicks prob...

I can only hope you are a licensed veterinarian, otherwise I imagine you are violating a whole lot of laws right here. You are using anaesthesia for those cat neuters, right? My mom used me tell me stories of her dad stuffing the cat down into the boot to do the castration. WOW! Hope we have progressed WAY beyond brutacaine!

I only hope you are licensed in whatever you are trying to dictate. I take very good care of my animals unlike some people who starve them and neglect them. Obviously you are a city person who has is not country. It is not unusual to have mess of cats on farm. Not all farmers take as good of care of their cats as I do.
I do not have to be a veterinarian to take care of my own livestock but I would have to be licensed vet to charge you fee to take care of your animals and to prescribe prescription medication. I use lidocaine and do not put a cat to sleep but I am alot nicer than alot of ppl who stuff a cat in a boot and take a pair of dykes and cut off their nuts. I also worm my cats regularly and I also vaccinate them regularly.
Are you a hypocrit or are you animals all taken care of with their vacinations and wormings. You sound like a know it all city person "Wait, let me just ask you, cause you know everything"
Maybe you are one of those city people who think let me take him out in country and dump him out for animals you don't want
I think maybe you should learn how to have some manners and talk nice instead of a hateful know it all!
