2 day old baby with curled feet, HELP!

Part of me wonders if she has other bone issues up higher in the leg. How are her hips? Free moving or stiff and unusual movement?
I would think that she should be able to stand with the photos you have posted the feet do not look that bad.
I have one crippled and dearly loved chicken that although she walks funny and running is difficult gets around ok. Her issue is that the parent birds were missing Manganese from the diet. She swings one leg out to the side and then it pops in to directly under her center. She has made it 4 years and counting.
They are amazing creatures with what they can overcome.

I also have a newly hatched one that has a bum leg. Not yet sure if its splay leg, slipped tendon, or maybe dislocated hip. So I feel your pain with the struggle of what is best for the baby. I'm hoping for the best, and dreading the worst. Luckily my baby is eating and drinking and gaining weight. She weighs a whopping 23 grams! Haha. Her brooder mates are good to her and prop her up when she leans on them. Its so dang cute. Have you tried putting her back with the others yet? Or maybe you have a nice one that you could put in with her for company and encouragement?

Best of luck to you! I'll be hoping for long happy lives for these babies!

That sounds like what I have been reading about with mine... Slipped tendon or "perosis" its called. Low manganese seems to cause it. I tried a couple corrections tonight, and have her legs bandaided together, in case its just splay leg. 4 years is awesome to hear in case mines doesn't recover any further. Thanks.

I've had a duckling with something that looked similar. It could be a leg problem. There are videos on YouTube on how to make a chick splint with a straw and a rubber band that might help

She could never stand but did learn to prop up with her wings. Her toes and legs twisted. I never should have helped her out of the shell but couldnt watch her struggle and suffer in the shell. Especially when I thought it was my fault. She finally paseed 6/21 Saturday night at 6 days old.

I left the Band-Aid off of mine yesterday evening, to let her try to exercise it, and the band-aid seems to have pulled the leg under her a bit, but she is still dragging it behind. I'm trying to do exercises with her, holding one of her feet on one of my fingers, and the other foot on another finger. Then I lower my finger under her good leg and try to get her to support herself and lift herself with the bad leg. I thought it was helping, but she is still so pitiful. But she is gaining weight and the others don't pick on her, so I've still got hope. Her feathering is quite a bit behind the others too...

Sorry you lost your baby MaineChick!

I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes no matter what we do it is just not meant to be. I had hoped she would make it. You gave her 6 days that she would not have had without help.
