2 day old chick won't move and stands still in 1 spot breathing hard.

My easter eggers were my friendliest and most curious. Maybe a cockerel? Try putting them together when you can observe them after a day or 2 apart. Hopefully you won't have to keep them that way for the whole brood time

Ive had several different breeds. Rir hens are super friendly but my roosters not so much. But thats the nature of roosters. Ive always had much larger groups in my brooder. In ny you have to get a minimum of 6. I always end up getting a few more cause why not? Right now I have 13.

thats too many for me. I don't have enough room for that many.if i had more space id have a lot more. but currently i have 1 hen and 2 chicks. because the other one died. right before the VND quarantine i had 3 rir's. caught my neighbor breaking in my back yard stealing my stuff while i was asleep on camera so i called the cops and they said they can't do anything even though i had video proof told my landlord and he said they was evicted and he thinks thats why they did it. well the next day i went out and found 2 of my rir's dead. he killed them and 1 survived. shes been alone 2 years now waiting for this vnd stuff to go away. now that i get some chicks for her to have company and a new flock this one died and one is aggressive. i have the worst luck i guess lol

I'm very lucky that I have about half an acre fenced for all my chickens. Right now I have 40 chickens of various ages (2 weeks - 3years). Plus 2 4 week old turkeys. People suck. How could anyone do that to an animal. That why I have so many animals. I like them way more than people.

city ordinance here says i can only have up to 6 chickens on my quarter acre. and no roosters allowed at all. the worst part is the place i got the chicks said i can't get a refund, so i asked if i can get a replacement chick or buy 1 more, that was a NO and she said we only sell a minimum of 3 chicks at a time so i can't do that. i don't have space for that many.

I'm so sorry about your chick😢, if I had read this sooner I could have told you the other chicks were trying to help the chick, by removing the fluff, accidentally harming her as it was too hot hence the rapid breathing and self-isolation. Also for the future, you shouldn't give a medicated feed. Start off with chick crumb.

yes. under the light its 92 and on the other side of the brooder its 94. its odd the red lamp don't seem to get it to 95, there is no drafts either. i don't know why. i guess the light is crap. it says its 250w but not getting a full 95 degrees.
That is just too hot.
Can you raise the lamp to get the temp down to 85 or even 80ish.

Medicated feed, here in the USA, does not contain MEDICINE.
It is perfectly fine to feed chicks.
