2 ducks brooding on same nest, will they co parent?

If you don’t want ducklings you take the eggs away tear up the nest. They get over it.
You know @WannaBeHillBilly is a softie that crumbles at a crying duck...😂
But seriously I did this with another broody, the one who started all of this, because she kept trying to build a nest outside of the barn. She’s basically over it now, after a couple of weeks.

Hi @Miss Lydia - they might get over it, but what about me? :gig
How will i survive in this cruel world without my arms?
Pinball Duck blackmailed me this morning and i had to let her and her babies go outside of the duck house…
And i am not against having ducklings, but i have no clue what is going on in that nest! They could sit on 20 eggs or none…

@duluthralphie you are so right! Some people are being confused by evil dux and start to backstab unsuspecting duck lovers! :hit 😭 :lau

It is hard to understand for you now, but stabbing is the only known sure cure for Dux mania. A horrible condition where one thinks dux give two poops for them. Severe cases think dux are luvable and not just evil.

Take the blade to the back, it’s good for you. :old

thank you for this thread as I have the same challenge. My Pekin and Muscovy are sharing a nest with 18 eggs!!!!!! Male is a Muscovy. I understand I will have a split hatching, so am preparing a temporary incubator for the Muscovy eggs with the assumption once they start to hatch, the others will be left alone. It is quite funny to see them try to share the nest and pushing each other to get the best spot :). I expect less than 50% hatching, so I am letting them keep the full nest. I may be wrong - then hubby may NOT be happy :th

I had only 2 hatch and one of the babies didn’t make it. It never got off the nest to move around, so something was obviously not right with it. Currently one mama is still sitting on the eggs, I’m giving it until tomorrow and then I’m going to remove them. So basically only one viable baby out of 8 eggs.

Are they fighting over the duckling? Maybe more will hatch:fl
No, the one on the nest isn’t that interested in the surviving duckling. She watched over the one that didn’t make it though. She’s determined to sit on that nest. The duckling seems to have imprinted on the other duck and follows her around. It’s all pretty peaceful
