~2 dz pheasant eggs ~Pa~

Im sure i will,
Yup there is a county near me that went through the same thing with raccoons.. distemper hit them hard and now from what i here there are gamebirds being seen in that area more offten.
The wild turkey there i quess has seen a big increase...

Over population somtimes seem to correct its self somtimes..But what a pianful way to do so(distemper & Manage, Rabbies)..id rather trappers keep the population down and in check..

I'll watch for the next time you have some available. I wouldn't mind raising some just to release to have some more around. Many people in this area have been doing that and, combined with the lack of foxes, they are finally pheasants around again. Raccoons are beginning to be prevalent here. Many of the old timers don't remember any coons here when they were young and now they are all over the place.

yup and you can release them early,, 6-8 weeks old is best...early summer and mid summer is just a good time to do so..

I have about 30 of them im working on now for a release in mid june here..

That is good to know. I think I will make some plans to do this next year. It's something I've wanted to do in the past and haven't had the resources to do it. I think now I am set up well enough to do it, but should wait until next year to get this year's projects out of the way. Out of curiosity, what happens when you cross the melanistic and blueback varieties with ringneck? Do they eventually just convert back to ringneck?

Ticks depending on how long you plan to hold them..you will need lots of space anyways as the will be very picky while growing..They get very cannibalistic... temp is another thing with them while growing out..Heat makes them aggressive to..I know ive learned the hard way a few years ago...

You can put bits in there beaks clip the points off there beaks, but space is the best way to go...

No they will stay what they are mixed(but they got the best of both worlds in them)..But you will see lots of colors with them..to me they are more harder than a standard ring-neck..smaller and much faster..But i breed them this way mainly for all the color variations ...

Which the pheasants or bobbys

Well ill give you the low down on both..Our pheasants arent that bad..most of our hens will come running up to you when you have treats..The males tend to stay back but dont really run from you..They do not take flight from us..However i only have one choc hen that will allow me top pick her up..

The bobwhites are also good once they get to know you. However when strangers come and want to look, they tend to shy away from new on-lookers..the pheasant do~not shy away...O~The bobwhites like treats to...
