yay!So I have two layers know Yay!!!
I know but I don't want them to get like attached to the egg or for them to eat it or crack it so as soon as I hear the song I wait 15 minutes and then I grab the egg and run from them lol. This won't guarantee they won't get broody. I'm sure it can help, I just don't want you to think they definitely won't get broody.
More than likely they will not go broody. But always a slim chanceI forgot to mention that i collect the eggs as soon as they lay them so that they don't get broody , I am super happy !!
Trust me when I say, plenty of folks on here have full-time jobs and eggs get left in the nest box all day! Most of the time there's very little chance an egg-eater will develop because an egg was left in the box. They probably won't go broody because of it, and the egg won't spoil in the heat either. It's okay to gather them immediately if you have the luxury to do so, just don't stress yourself out over it. If you want to save eggs for hatching, gathering them immediately is good just to keep them clean and at a consistent temp.I know but I don't want them to get like attached to the egg or for them to eat it or crack it so as soon as I hear the song I wait 15 minutes and then I grab the egg and run from them lol.
I agree eggs are good all day. Egg eater although can happen is less likely most of the time when that happens one has cracked or busted in the nest and they have gotten a taste of the egg that way first.
As for a smelly broody. As said before that should be unless an egg has gone bad and even then it would have had to be in there longer than 3 weeks a broody sits.
I think that only Ratatouille is laying because I just went out there and she was in the nest box and I found an egg under her but ratty patty was in the egg box but then waited for her to be done so that they could go eat grass if i find another egg then that would 100% mean i have 2 layers but I'll check the box again at 12
