2 embryo in 1 egg? Please look at picture

Haha. I'm somewhat concerned now, was sitting down for dinner, bf looked out the kitchen window, A FOX!! Turned the dog out, but he didn't get it. Haven't had to lock the coops yet, but it looks like tonight's the night. Theyre getting locked up, and Mr.Yorgi is going in the chicken yard!!
Somewhat concerned??? oh my gosh no way I could ever leave coops open at night we are covered up with preds. Why take the chance with yours @rookhomestead that fox is looking for an easy meal.

Same here, NEVER EVER underestimate a hungry predator!! I lock my coops and pins up tighter than fort Knox!!

And I will add one more thing, comfortable behavior is dangerous behavior, I assure you that if you ever come across a bird half eaten by a predator.. it's not something you will forget.. Better safe than sorry ... Lock that coop up

Oh, I definately am now, FOR SURE! And the dogs out in the fence with the coops. Only issue I had til now was a hawk during the day. I got my fighting gloves on now. I am armed, deadly, and on high alert!!!!!!!

Me neither. Too many fox, raccoons, hawks, owls and bald eagles around. Our neighbor free ranges his flock. We asked him the other day if anything had bothered his hens yet and he said no but there was a hawk sitting on a fence post by their yard every morning watching when they let the chickens out. It's like.....duh.

My run and coop is like Fort Knox on lock down.

My husband was outside last week around 7 AM and saw a red fox casually trotting down our gravel road before it dove into the timber across the street. Our flock hadn't been let out into the run yet.

Just a heads up to everyone. Spring is here which means many predators from birds of prey to the lowly raccoon have young to feed and will be brazen enough to risk being seen in the daylight hours in order to find an easy meal for their young. They are just doing what they are programmed to do by mother nature so everybody do what we have been programmed to do and keep your flocks safe from them. Yes, it may be inconvenient to have your birds in a run and penned up at night but it's more inconvenient to discover that your beloved birds have been put on the menu by Wile E Coyote or Freddy Fox.
