All ducklings have hatched and of course it's wouldn't be exciting if something wasn't going wrong in Lucy's world

LOL, love it! @lucysducks11

So is the hatch over? or are there more babies coming??

Hatch is complete... unfortunately #6 did not make it...

But 5/6 Call babies out of shipped eggs that developed is a great hatch!

And the 6 pack is doing well too!!

I don't know if the same holds true in ducks and other animals but I remember being in nurses training and doing my lab rotation in a big newborn nursery. One of the babies in the unit was born with a birth defect. The young resident working the unit was eager to instruct a group of sweet young nursing students so he talked to us about the baby and that while it had one obvious defect, could we find the other two? We were all puzzled and he proceeded to tell us that defects always come in threes and challenged us to find the other two. We did, one of them being a heart valve defect. The point I'm making is that baby possibly had other things going on that you couldn't see besides the foot deformity.

6 out of 7 and 5 out of 6 is a lot better hatch rate than my young hens have gotten. All in all a very good job! Congratulations Lucysducks11. Now relax, take care of them and yourself!

:hugs sorry for your loss.....

You are going to have your work cut out caring for 11 little duckies. You did AMAZINGLY hatching out 5/6 SHIPPED Calls.

Thanks everyone who left sweet encouraging words, I was super bummed about #6 not making it but in a way relieved because the little baby wasn't suffering anymore. I'm happy with the outcome from my 1st time incubating eggs and didn't expect to get 1 call duck much less 5, alone with the Mallards I now have my hands full :) I hope that the Duck chronicles doesn't fade away you guys make my bad days good...
