We now have 4 baby ducklings, Creasy duck and Princess Ravyn were so welcoming to their siblings :)
Today has been so stressful on top of having treatment and wanting to just lay down and cry over losing more hair today, I can't stop long enough to have my pity party because these little stinkers keep hatching! I love reading all the comments from everyone and will keep everyone posted as more hatch. 3 more to go!!! And then the real challenge begins, the 6 call ducklings in my other bator... My cup runneth over already :)

Aww they are soo cute!!!!! Congrats on the duckies!!!!!

Congratulations luckyduck11. The other twin is safely in God's animal heaven. Your survivor is going to follow you wherever you go now, lol. I have chickens but my husband rescued baby ducklings from a sewer drain at the college he works at last year. Three beauties. I don't have a pond or any place safe for them so when they were a few months old we brought them to our favorite fishing creek. It was so funny bc they wouldn't let us leave. They kept coming up to the road so we waited until they were safely in the water again. They were having a ball. The following week we went to visit and I started yelling "here chick, chick" lol bc that's how I used to call them and sure enough they were down the creek about 500ft and swam up the creek to come meet us. They jumped out of the water and came right to our hands. We knew we did the right thing. We waited for them to go back into the water and swim away. We visited every few weeks and watched them grow. The last time we saw them they were with other ducks. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to save and love the ducks he rescued.

Hooray on your 'lings! Go ahead and have a good cry and get it out, then back to watching the hatching! Women are good at multitasking, so you may as well do both at once.

Ok prayer warriors this batch will be the death of me, little love here was actually one I posted about that got mysteriously cracked 2 days into incubation, I did my best to fix his crack (which was extremely bad) and as you can see he developed. Well tonight the crack , which I fixed with candle wax gave way, maybe from the humidity and heat over time, and little love came out and was not ready. So I put him in a cup lined with a damp paper towel and I am praying he makes it! How long will it take for it to absorb the yolk that was on his tummy?

Oh boy, these guys are really testing you!

I can't tell for sure how much is unabsorbed, but as long as he doesn't rupture it, it can still absorb. Keeping him immobilized will help. I'm not a big fan of the moist paper towel, because I think they can cause a chill, but it's your call. Keeping him from anything that could rupture it is the main goal.

Good luck! :fl

Little Ravyn, the surviving twin, is the tiny one in the center on the blue lid...

And #7 is absorbing yolk still, so :fl for her...

She threw a fit about being alone...

But trying to put her with the others ended up with a dog pile on top of her...

So I suggested a basket where they can all see each other...

And of course, Little Ravyn is trying to bust her out of jail!! :gig

Lucy has done an excellent job with these babies on her first ever hatch!!!
:celebrate
