
I tried this to up the O2 in the incubator so I wouldn't have to ventilate as much. I had no drop in hatch rate from the eggs being on dirt but the grass I used didn't hold up to the dry heat of my incubator that stays at 18% humidity most of the time. Someone that runs the incubator at a higher humidity should have better luck. If you do wont to sterilize the dirt you can put it in the microwave for 20 minutes but I just used field dirt. I think sterile environments may help hatch rates but hurt survival rates as a whole by weakening there immune system.
