2 Hens

Easter egger and perhaps an Ayam Cemani cross. It looks as if bird # 1 may have scaly leg mites going by the pictures.

Where did you get them?

Not a breeder. I had been just buying a few hens here and there when ppl with them in their backyards found out they couldn't keep them, or they found out that it is work, or they lost part of the flock to dogs or whatever. So I have a mishmosh of all kinds of stuff, But now we are going to try to breed some of the smaller ones and pretty eggers and odd looking ones for ppl who have been buying my eggs. Our local municipality has opened the "town" to be chicken friendly. I'm working on my NPIP status as well. I'm thinking Seramas, Silkies, Polish, Amerucanas, Marans and phoenix and banty cochins...I have a partner as well so we will be splitting chicken duties. We're thinking 3 hens per 1 roo. Very small scale operation. The problem is finding birds that are not chicks but not ancient, not show stock, but not 1 eyes, twisted leg sick, AND decently priced. We're not looking to make a killing selling birds/fertilized eggs, just a decent price.

I know, I know we're nuts.. but I'm a horse trainer/breeder by trade and we breed miniature Tennessee fainting goats and I've had the chickens for 20 yrs so why not just try something new right?

I'm a glutton, I have a thriving art business as well! Oh, and I want to build a house with the imaginary money I don't have on a really pretty beach lot I bought last summer!!!
