I have free range chickens in NC and my neighbor that lives nearby has several different animals including several sheep and goats. My girls and boys do wander but predominantly stay in my backyard scratching for food while I am at work. I am curious about the swelling and discoloration of the two sex link hens' feet. I noticed goat poo showing up in my yard again and it's no biggie, more fertilizer for my garden and yard. My wife was home a few days ago and saw the Jacob's sheep back in our yard eating the food I left for my chickens and ducks. Could these sheep have stomped on my chickens' feet and caused this to happen? My girls, with the bruised feet, are put up for now but since this is the first time to see this I am puzzled. There is no blood, when food was placed near them they ate readily but they were not happy little campers either. The leg doesn't appear to be broken but was wondering about their toes possibly being broken because they are, both, holding up thier leg and not placing any weight on thier leg. Any suggestions??
