I’m new to turkeys. I ordered 4 heritage turkeys last spring so they are almost a year old. One died early on now I have three. Turned out I have 2 males 1 female. I was worried about having 2 males but have never had a problem till now. They are starting to chest up and peck at each other. Do I need to rehome one of them? Also they are housed in an old corn crib so they can’t fly out. I am wanting to move them to my much bigger duck/guinea area. I have 5 ducks 3 guinea. They all get along fine. Is this an ok idea to put the turkeys in? One more question lol. I have never clipped wings and it scares me. If I put the turkeys in this big area I will need to clip so they can’t fly over the fence or get in the trees. If someone can help me with turkey wing clipping that would be great. Sorry for all the questions

For the health of your hen turkey, you need to get down to one tom turkey. It will be helpful if you can get more hen turkeys. I try to keep a minimum of 4 to 5 hens fo one tom.

You will have pecking order issues when you introduce the turkeys to the other fowl. I also expect you to have guinea problems when breeding season starts. Guineas can seem to get along very well will other fowl right up until the first breeding season when their hormones escalate.

Turkey wing clipping is no different than chicken wing clipping. Only clip one wing as they can still get around pretty good with both wings clipped. Clipping their wings will not stop them from jumping up very well. If you have a top bar or rail on your fence the turkeys will still be able to get up there with clipped wings. If they get up there, they will almost always get down on the wrong side of the fence.
