My chickens are just now going out side but they are in our screened in porch. So it's not in the sun at all. It's still very hot out here in GA.
They are non stop panting though. Do they just need time to adjust? Will they be ok?
They have fresh water avail at all times. I even gave them a small fan blowing in on one side.

Chickens of all ages need to be conditioned to extreme temperatures, either hot or freezing. To subject them suddenly to an extreme change in temp will lead to stress, and heat stress is probably the worse of the two.

The fan should help, and providing cold water also helps. I give my adult flock a big bowl of ice cubes to play with on a hot day. They seem to enjoy pecking at the ice, and drinking the ice melt definitely cools them down.

But don't be particularly alarmed to see your chicks panting. It's how they get rid of excess body heat.
