2 months and $1100 later we finally have our chicken coop built.

Your quite the handyman! That's some good craftsmanship. :thumbsup
A chicken run tunnel around the perimeter of your backyard is a option to let them stretch their legs and get some bugs, weeds and exercise; plus its not to costly.
Thanks! Yeah, we've talked about a chicken tunnel but I think we'll go the rolling run direction. I want to build one that folds and can be stored between the coop and the fence.

Beautiful!! I loved those coops too but was way too much money for me! You did a great job! I wish we knew how to build. We finally got One built for a decent price and enjoying our time outside with the babies!
Yeah! We did a ton of research on coops styles and the Carolina Coops really made the most sense for our scenario but there was no way we could afford to buy one. We were content with trying to reverse engineer their design and make some adjustments so it fit our space/style better.

Wow, it looks great! Awesome turn out for a first time coop build.

I tried Sketchup as well, but I was definitely not nearly as successful at using it as you were lol. Sticking to pen + paper.
Thank you! Yeah, I do a fair bit of woodworking and this was the final push I needed to buckle down and learn to use SketchUp. I was able to manipulate the dimensions as I went along and it made it a lot easier when it came to reverse-engineering the Carolina Coops build. There were plenty of times when I'd watch another of their videos and they'd mention the distance between two points and I'd pull up the design and check that against what I sort out. All-in-all it turned out well and I picked up a new skill :)
