I ordered instructions from Renegade Ridge on how to build breeder pens. I didnt realize it was for breeding, witch I am fine with. In the instructions in mentioned that I should build a recall pen, if using for breeding pen.

1. My chicks are going on 2 weeks. Will it be ok to put them in a **"breeder pen"** when they are ready to leave the brooder?

2. Why would I need a recall pen?

Thanks again for all the help!

Basically once they hit 8 weeks, they are in full breeding mode. If you can keep them in the brooder till then, or about 6 weeks, you're golden.

2. These are more for bobwhites, but people say that Coturnix work well with them. (I haven't experienced this...) basically, you put a calling male in the pen when you release them to shoot, and all the ones you miss come back to the calling male for feed/to rejoin the covey. Then you can let them out and repeat the shooting.

What species of quail are we talking about here?
