I have 2 questions about my quail.
1. do they like watermelon?(strange question)
2. I am getting 4 week old gambles but how old do they have to be go go in the big pen outside?

Yes they do eat watermelons and they grow fast, some even have these quails fly at 3 weeks of age.

Being that it is summer and that you live in AZ, you can probably let them out into the big pen the day you get them. However, young quail cannot regulate their body heat as easily as adult quail. Keep an eye on them for over heating. Keep them as cool as possible. As they grow they will adapt better to the hotter temps.

Yes, they do eat all sorts of cool fruit, including watermelon. You can keep them cooler with cold watermelon, cold snap peas, cold greens, etc..Keep ice in their water.
