Hi I'm a newbie. I have 5 chickens 3 RR 2 roosters and 1 hen and 2 longhorns hens. The gang is 6 month old. I have 2 roosters. The dominate one has been charging me from behind. I have been carrying broom to help me redirect him and I also use the broom to get the gang out of the neighbors yard. About a week ago I used by boot lightly touching his chest to show him i was boss. He was good for a week. Today he charged me from the front and ran up my leg and pecked. ( I was giving some scratch- I feed him first then the hens and then the non dominate rooster. He came over to check the non dominate rooster but I got checked. I don't think I can throw him down and lay on him. He is a big guy. Another issue is the brown hen who is the dominate hen is now fleeing to the neighbors brushes everyday for cover. The 2 white hens are smaller than the brown hen and can run a lot faster from the roosters than the brown hen. My question- do I get rid of the dominate or non dominate rooster? if I get rid of the dominate rooster will the non dominate rooster charge me since he has seen that behavior from the other rooster.

2 roosters is definitely too much for three small hens. I would cull or try and find somewhere someone is willing to work with the aggressive cockerel and get some more hens for the remaining cockerel, unless you're using them for breeding a specific line

Too many roosters.. The recommended ratio is 1 rooster to 10 hens, I think you should give away at least one of the boys (the aggressive one).
By the way in my opinion you should also show the rooster you're boss, so for example not only you don't feed him first, but he has to stay away from the feeders (out of the coop) until you're done in the coop and leave.
If he tries to get in, you chase him out, using the broom if needed.
Your roosters (your animals in general, in my opinion) must understand that *you* are alpha.

I had rooster go stupid like that and nothing I did changed him. Eventually I traded him for a hen. Later found out he was now on his third home and apparently his forth was a stew pot.
