2 week old chick from Ideal - not a Holland so what is it?

I think it is a cockerel, whatever it is, look at the size of those shanks! It looks like it has golden coloring coming in, right? And a single comb? The legs look more pinkish than yellow too? Hmm. I will have to go pull out the books before I guess a breed.

Yep, golden/light brown colour but the longer wing feathers are black and white, single comb, and pinkish legs. His wattles are coming in already - very small but already looking dark pink. He weighs more than a tennis ball and he feels very solid compared to the Wellie.

Both chicks are from Ideal - I split an order with 2 other people and we know that they didn't send exactly what was ordered. A bad hatch perhaps? Anyway, I have looked through Ideal's large fowl breeds and compared with chick pictures on feathersite. I agree that it is something that will be red/brown as an adult. It kind of looked like a Buckeye when it was just down but now that the feathers are coming I can see that it's wings have a different pattern.

I just read your comment about Buckeye, and I had just checked some pictures (since I was too lazy to take my butt out to look at my own Buckeye chicks), and they should have yellow legs if they were. So, nope, not Buckeyes. I am stumped. It almost has the shape of a Cornish, but the color is wrong for any of the varieties of Cornish. I wish I could help more, but that is about all I got for you now. In about 2 more weeks you will have more of an idea.
