Hi all. I have a 2 week old leghorn chick who is very lethargic and has an impacted crop. I’ve been giving water with rooster booster every hour and massaging. She is still laying around, seems too weak to walk. She was great yesterday and then this morning wouldn’t get up. She has had two small bowel movements but the fecal matter looks gummy and pink tinged. Anything else I can do? How much water should I be giving her once an hour? How long should I be massaging? Thanks for the help!
I started giving the other grit today. I am not offering her food, should I offer grit today? No hx of pasty but. She came from a hatchery/mailed and was vx for Mercks and coccidiosis. We added 2 more chicks from a feed store who were not vxed 1 week ago- all have been doing great until this morning. I do not believe she has been eating bedding, we are using hemp. I do feel small pieces of something with texture (not chick feed) in her crop. I was giving .1cc olive oil/water mixture this morning every hour for three hours by mouth then I switched to dipping her beak in water with rooster booster (it was easier to dip than try to hold her beak open). I have coconut oil but it is very old. When I dip her beak she is drinking- I am dipping it about 6 times and then massaging (doing this once an hour). Is this enough? She is just laying there in between me doing this and she is weak when she is standing. Should I still treat with corid even though she's been vaccinated? Thank you for the help!!
