2 week old chicks

was curious how far from crate should heat lamp be its 85 degrees out of the direct light of the chicks. not new to backyard chicks just my others are 4 years old so i forget plus they are in my guest room in warm house

Just go by their behavior. If the chicks are comfortably not huddling directly under the light (too cold), or spread out as far as possible from light (too hot) then they're just right. Ideally you want to see them moving between both warmer and cooler areas.
