2 weeks old and they're dust bathing!

Some of my chicks are taking dust baths, but they have no dust. Should I provide them with some sand or something else? It seems so early, but they are growing so fast!

Wouldn't hurt, keeps them from getting bored and pecking each other. My chicks would dust bathe in the wood chips.

Mine did that when we were brooding them in the guest bathtub. They had pine shavings. They seemed okay with it. They had no parasites of anything they needed a bath for. I just think they were enjoying themselves.

Yeah, they seem to not mind that it's just shavings. I wasn't sure if this was normal! Thanks!

Ordinary sand available from your hardware store will do, and will definitely help them scrape off their down to make room for their feathers Sand doubles as a chick grit in a pinch too.
