These birds do have the throw back gene with the brown spot.

Our birds are fed a high protein diet. Our hatch rate has been a consistent 98%.

I aquired 4 different breeds of quail lately and have learned how to tell theidifference in the sex, except for this same breed. Mine have black spots on their heads. One has more spots than the other. That's the only difference I can tell. Is there another way besides the make is smaller?
