20 weeks old, I think we're getting close

How long does it typically take for the first egg? I'm just wondering how long is she going to be sitting in the nesting box working on this. Does it typically take hours, days? Is there a point where I should start worrying about her?
As for how long it takes after they start sitting in the box: some chickens can take up to days to start. I had a BO that started by checking out the boxes for about a week, then she messed them up for a week then finally started sitting in them for up to a couple hours per day for about 3-4 days before she finally laid her first egg(which actually just slipped out in the middle of the coop🤦🏻‍♀️)

I bet that first egg is uncomfortable to lay. I would imagine it takes a while before they aren't feeling pain or discomfort. Awe I just love them.

Pretty bird, pretty egg! Congratulations! :wee
First eggs are magical. I blew out the shell of mine and smile every time it see it.

I love it. That's exactly what I'm going to do. I only have 4 girls. I've decided that I'm going to blow out the first eggs and make Christmas ornaments out of each of them, so we can look at them each year when we decorate our tree.
