I could send half a dozen, and I'd still have too many!

I have broody ducks, guineas, and button quial too. It is definitely the year of the broody!

Uffdah! Thats alot of broodies!!! Just when i was getting used to more than a dozen eggs a day!! Can't beat a free incubator tho so i just keep feeding their habits. After this past winter having a broody hen with no eggs for 4 months just about killed her and me so I decided its just healthier to let them do what they want.... Dh doesn't have a clue i just set some eggs under another broody, I think i may end up in the chicken coop when this season is over .

We have so many birds that even with all these broodies we are still getting about a dozen eggs a day! I really need to cut down on the number of birds I have, but it's so hard deciding which ones I can part with!

Well, it was a thought anyway.

We're lucky, my dad has a dog that he keeps loose that hates anything that doesn't belong here. If she could fly I wouldn't even have to worry about hawks. Hope you get it figured out.

Hey Cin!!

We have 7 broodies right now at the last count. In fact I lost my only wheaton marans last week due to the heat and those DUMB hens not eating or drinking enough. This has been going on for weeks. We collect the eggs everyday so no chicks. How long is this going to go on???????

In a spurt of brilliance, the day after Summer the marans died, we threw all of them out of the coop and closed the doors. So all my chickens found somewere else to lay or they went on strike, not sure which... but I went from 3 dozen a day to only 5 eggs the last few days.... even though the doors were closed only one day!! Ugh!!
