2009 Quilt block of the month - February

Skand, you forgot to trim the points on your triangles. When you line up the triangles if they don't match you need to trim the points so that they align.

YOu did a great job Skand - really good!

Your blocks within the square are probably the wrong size, see the top center block looks a little small. Each of those 9 blocks you made have to be spot on for them to all meet up with the next row.

You REALLY need to try paper piecing... really! its Super fast and easy to do.

Edit to add: If you pick colors that are not so strikingly different like the black and white - any mistakes will be more difficult to see. You could pick a couple of fabrics with busy prints in similar shades and tones, and the points that don't meet exactly will hardly be noticed at all.

I really like that! Very 'Edward Gorey" : A is for Amy who fell down the stairs; B is for Basil assaulted by bears....C....you gotta check it out. The Ghastly Crumb Tinies by Edward Gorey.

Maybe your kid was studying him?!

I'll have to check that out - I'm really not a poetry person so this one took me by surprise for sure, I was amazed he thought up all that and even included a line to exuse his bad handwriting

Skand... I have the same machine! I'm having the same problem, I think it's the triangles that get confusing! OK, it's the machine, not us! I'm trying to figure it out too.

OK I have a question...how many of you quilt by hand and how many by machine?

Me: by hand - #1 I learned by hand, a machine will just be like Hal to me. Um, no. Plus, I don't have the equipment.

Machine: does beautiful job, but not personal. ???

What's everyone's opinion and desires? Just asking cause I'm getting back into the sewing saddle and want everyone's opinion with those new machines and basics by hand stuff..

Skand nice job, I see your problem, the top center is smaller than the other middle blocks. But you are doing really good, I am so proud of you.

I got the ironing done for my 9 patch swaps, I got Marlin's ironed to now to put the 3 parts into block.

Where is Marlin is he sick? Bet his wife caught him with her sewing machine and he is missing in action LOL.
