2009 Quilt block of the month - February

I can't keep a secret from the Rev.
I keep 'secrets' folks have told me ALL day long...
but I can't keep one for myself! He said it's in my eyes.

Who knew?

He doesn't complain about my stuff until we are ready to move...then I have to be the last car leaving....and stop and try to load the boxes of stuff he got tired of loading!

I don't have a regular sewing room. We have a sunroom at the back of the house where I keep all my plants and there is a small corner that isn't practical for seating purposes, so I have 2 large folding walls (for lack of a better word) closed in for my corner. I have a small table, chair, 3 large totes with fabric, a small cubbard for other stuff and a box by the window for kitty.

I think I may be pushing those walls out a bit at a time, I have no other space, and I like it back there with all the sunshine!

I'm starting to understand the fabric addictions! And I have no place to hide my fabric!

Parson's Wife - I can't tell a little white lie, I fumble with it.

He didn't sound mean at all, I have 7 brothers just like him. But being the 13th by a minute I don't give an inch or they run me over thinking I am the baby. Glad you handled it in a way that gave him a reality check. I knew ya had it in you.

I uh... am a little short on my block and uh... Already added a border, and it's still short an inch and a half all around. What size should I cut for one more inch????????

OK, ladies and gentlemen, some people "in the know" would tell you that this block is "all wrong" because I made a big "mistake".... but I like to think of it as "accidental creativity".

Wouldn't you know I didn't realize that I had sewn A to B on the wrong side, therefore, C would be sewn on the wrong side too.

This is the first time I have ever attempted paper piecing and I am glad the first one is under my belt. It was a fun learning experience but it took me 5 hours to do this 6 inch block and it still came out wrong. Oh well, baby steps.

Here are others I have made for the swap......

Skand, you have a couple of choices here,

You can cut a strip 2 inches wide and fold it in half and allow for the 1/4 " seam allowances and use it like a binding edge of the block

OR

you could cut a strip 1" wide and allow for the 1/4 " seam allowance and just add it as an additional border to the block. If you do that use either a contrasting color or some of the same material of one of the pieces in the block.

or

you could make a new block and rip this one apart.
