Amy, wish Felicity a Very Happy Birthday from me as well. Is she at that "Horse Crazy" stage yet? If she is I have something special I will send to you for her, it will be a bit late for her birthday but I think she'll like it.

Acres, wish your daughter a Happy Birthday for me too.

Chuck,
Thanks for the wishes for Felicity. She's been in the Horse crazy stage since she was 18 months old. She can tell you anything you want to know about care, etc of a horse.. You'd think she had grown up with one. Hopefully, in the next couple of years, we'll be able to get her one, finally. A surprise would be fantastic. I'll PM you our address. Thanks so much!

No machine of her own, yet. She will share mine until we are sure she likes sewing and wants to stick with it. When I taught my now 21yo dd (katiebelle on BYC) to sew years ago when she was 7-8, she stuck with it for about 3 days and hated it. I'm pretty certain Felicity will be different, though.

Well that's what you get for planning a trip to Africa to see a grandchild instead of being here and keeping up with us!

I hope you have a safe, enjoyable trip, and get to hold the new grandbaby lots and lots. Just remember to wear burp proof clothes when holding it.

Otherwise you may find yourself covered in

Which book is that? Kinda curious... cause books are wonderful things!!!

Sorry, I didn't put it in at first. I wasn't sure if we could use book titles and authors on the forum. It is Encyclopedia Of Pieced Quilt Patterns, Compiled by Barbara Brackman. It is the book my oldest granddaughter had found a block she wanted me to do for her called Nautilus. It is done in graduating triangles of two colors, from center to outside. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/WA6ohXUQkWO6otun9cya1g?feat=directlink Her and I were going to make a hand sewn quilt together, but they moved to another town, school started, well you know how it goes, life goes on. Maybe I will go ahead and make it for her and give it to her when she graduates in a couple of years.

Puff, that is a nifty looking block, sort of follow the Yellow Brick Road,

what I would do with it if it did

, but it sure would be fun to try

. Just kidding. You go, have fun and spend precious time with your family and the new grand baby they grow too fast.

FrChuckW: You may want to see if a library near you has or can bring it in for you to look over, before you order it. It is hard back, kind of a larger book and a little pricey. I ordered mine though Amazon and gave almost $27.00 for it, but it qualified for "Free Shipping"

And I have spent a whole lot more than that on bunches of Quilt magazines just to get one or two block ideas I liked

. And YES those designs are in there (go figure

). Oh well, books are better than magazines for the long term, and with over 4,000 ideas to play with
droolin.gif
it will be worth the price to me.

Now, I need to go do more research for my next block to create

This is just way too much fun.

Now I know how the artists felt! Am I an amateur yet?
