2009 Quilt block of the month - February

That should be fine, I think walmart has some fabrics for $1 or so and those aren't really Strong enough to handle being in a quilt.

You might also want to try www.hancockfabrics.com. Sometimes they have nice clearance sales. Once I ordered 6 yards of a vanilla colored fabric from them. When it arrived it was peach colored instead. I called and asked if I could return it to the store. They said, "No, just keep it," and they sent me 6 yards of the right fabric. They are fast and easy to deal with.

Okay, now you settled me. I was honestly going to ask if where the fabric comes from would be a problem.
So since pretty much everyone that has a clue of what to do is requesting average of 12", could we do that as a general rule. Such as, make it 12 inches, unless requested differently?

Yeah it should work out to 12.5 before they're joined, so you have a bit for the seam allowance.

I'll be paper piecing mine, I think its much easier to get it nice and neat.... so I will make sure also to ask if the receiver of mine want me to pull the paper off or leave it on - sometimes its easier to join a bunch of squares with their paper still on.

I probably have enough fabric in my stash to satify any color requirement (I probably have 300 yards of assorted material-no, I'm not kidding), but will probably shop for more anyway. Some of the WalMart stuff is OK. I actually really like the one they carry with the chickens all over it. I used it as a border for this quilt.

They have one wall with nicer stuff (still very reasonably priced), but everything else is kind of so-so.

NO! first she has to chop it up so we can all have a piece!!

As a worry wort, I can already tell you all, I'm sorry for the work I will provide, I'm still trying to stare down my sewing machine to prove to it that I am not afraid of it. (yes I am)
