2009 Quilt block of the month - February

Super awesome Acre!! When they come out that cool looking, it doesnt matter if ya like the colors or not, it just plain rocks!! Good job! Yay me!
Now I have to pretend I know what I'm doing and get mine made. lol

Labels are great! In swaps in past years that I have hosted or participated in, labels are always a requirement. What's even neater is for labels, require them to be a certain size square of bleached or unbleached muslin and the quilt maker can make the back of the quilt pieced with them in corresponding places as the blocks on the front (hope that makes sense).

I have one quilt I did this way and am glad I did, as the organizer of the swap (a 28 yo mom of a 2 yr old) was diagnosed with lymphoma and passed away within 1.5 years of the swap.

Others, I just keep the labels on hand....some quilters keep quilt journals/scrapbooks and keep the labels there. Others....don't care and toss the labels lol. A myriad of choices!

Glad you added a deadline to mail by....

I'm going to try print some labels up myself, I'll have to hem each square of label by hand, but it will be handy to be able to get it done myself.

The quilt in post #267 was made for my daughter. That particular top can be made in a weekend or 2. I suppose if I were Eleanor Burns, I could do it in a day. For people new to quilting Eleanor Burns is the host of the Quilt In A Day TV show. That particular top sat unfinished for over a year because DD insisted that I use the light blue fabric you see in the wide border. I hate that fabric. Quilts are an artistic thing for me, and if I don't like it, I find it difficult to finish. That's why when I make a quilt for somebody it is better if I pick the pattern and the fabrics. They can give me color preferences, but that's it.
