Okay here are the photos. I used the same star pattern I use for focus fabric quilts....it is a modification of the nine patch star.

ChevygirlBeth, This one is yours and it's in an addressed envelope ready to go out tomorrow.

Heavens, you should have seen my first attempt at learning to quilt!!!!

Second thought...let's just say it looked nothing like the little appliqued baby quilt I posted earlier. I used to rip out seams frequently and my blocks were lopsided. and not square at all.

Sharing is how we learn.

Your beginners block looks a whole lot better than my first ones did. That was a cute idea to put the sashing between the nine patch. It adds a bright accent. And your seams are very straight.

I wish there had been a group where I lived that got together to quilt.
My mother taught me to sew. One of my grandmothers did beautiful hand sewing and the other taught me to knit and crochet. My great grandmother was the supreme quilting seamstress.

I'll have to post a picture of her handiwork.

My mother-in-law is 85 and was taught to quilt by her MIL on one of those hang from ceiling frames. She says that quilting was not about the design or detail back then, but about the overall look of the quilt and "getting the job done"! They didn't have extra time to be creative with quilting like we do now.

Part of what I enjoy is researching the old quilts and looking at the color combinations.

and I have purchased a lot of books on-line to boost my library at home.

That is a tricky block, isn't it?!?! That's the same pattern I made for Scrambled Egg last month. It definitely took some thinking to put together!

17roses--your block looks good. You should have seen the one I sent to gumpsgirl, the fabric was cute, but I think the block was lacking!

I'll get it on its way to you soon.

It is kind of tricky... I'm getting better, though! I didn't even notice that it was the same pattern you used for SE!

Nanacat, your blocks are beautiful! I can't wait for it to get here!
