Rich & Becky, sorry you cannot make it this year. Henry and I were just talking about you the other day and hoping you could attend.

Lanissa, yea, look forward to seeing you.

I wrote the Texas Animal Health Commission:
If a backyard poultry owner buys/sells a bird to someone, and because of geography, meets the other buyer/seller at a location other than their home to get the bird, are both parties or either party subject to the Fowl Registration Guidelines ?

Example 1: I live in Austin and a friend in Dallas wants a pair of my guineas. Because of the distance, I meet the person in Waco to hand over the birds.

Example 2: I have a BBQ/potluck get together and two people attending make arrangements ahead of time to buy/sell birds/eggs. Since they are both attending the BBQ, the item is brought to my BBQ for exchange.

Thanks...
Carla Allen

This is the reply:

Since the sale has been pre-arranged, the commission will not require your registration with the Fowl Registration Program for the exchange of your fowl. All documentation and records must be maintained and current, including Pullorum-Typhoid testing and sale records.

Please note that if you were to sell additional birds to the public, at the exchange location, you will be required to register with the Fowl Registration Program.

Please note that if your guests were to sell additional birds at your BBQ/potluck to other guests, they are selling at a location, other than the premise of origin and to the public, and are required to register with the Fowl Registration Program.

So my DH and I will be coming. Not sure yet about the 2 kids. They are waiting to see if they got jobs this summer which start on Saturday. I would like to bring a tossed salad ( it has pasta and veggies), buttermilk pie, and a party pressed sandwich ( kind of like a big fancy oversized subway but better). Wouldn't mind bringing a cooler with some drinks in it too. Hope this sounds good. Can't wait!

ONLY TWO MORE DAYS !!!!!

I can't wait to meet everybody! I've been trying to think of something to make that will travel OK. How about Arroz con Pollo? It works as a main entree OR side dish. I can bring it in a crock pot for re-heating.

I got my Purple Poultry gift, now I need gifts for my kiddos to bring.
