Hi! I was unable to be with family for Christmas last year and mailed all the gifts. All the nieces and nephews got gifts and/or cash. For those that never called or wrote to let me know they received their gifts --- this year I plan to give them a box of 'Thank You' notes.
Subtle, aren't I?
Since my kids were little, they're all grown up now, we put our tree up and outside decorations up the day after Thanksgiving. At least we started the day after Thanksgiving. That usually gave us 3 days when I was off work and the kids didn't have school to get things decorated.
All my Christmas decorations have been snowmen for years now. The entire tree and all over the house, even outside. This year my daughter and Grandkids are living with me and we're reverting to the kind of trees we had when she was little. Strings of popcorn, cranberries & cereal (like fruit loops). We'll also hang candy canes, other candies and cookies. Lots and lots of cookies that get a hole poked in them before baking so you can run a string through it. Each evening everybody would get a couple cookies off the tree, which I'd replenish from my stash after everyone else was in bed.
We're finished with our Christmas shopping except for stocking stuffers and what Santa brings the kids. If we can manage we'll get my Grandson the bike he's asking for from Santa. If we can't manage it we'll get him something less expensive. It pretty much depends on how many hours my daughter can get at work the next few weeks.
One tradition here that hasn't changed in 40 years is Rib Eye steaks on the grill New Year's Day. Doesn't matter what the weather is doing. Actually they taste progressively better as the weather gets worse.
Unfortunately none of the pictures are on this computer.
Has anyone put up their Christmas tree yet? Real or artificial? I put up my artificial tree on Thanksgiving already, and put up most of the decorations.
